The term of office for the Shop Sabre Area Captain is one year, and is appointed by the board with the advice of the President.

The responsibilities of the Shop Sabre Area Captain are as follows:

  • Train members on Shop Sabre CNC, including safety and basic maintenance
  • Manage supplies and donations
  • Keep the area organized
  • Organize cleaning of the area
  • Coordinate maintenance
  • Identify and document a secondary Steward, or Co-Steward (optional, but recommended)
  • Coordinate with the Area Captain of the Annex, since the Shop Sabre is located within the Annex
  • Be a point of contact for the Board of Directors, membership, and wider public for questions or issues regarding usage of the Shop Sabre
  • Serve as a member of the Facilities Workgroup, specifically regarding issues regarding the Shop Sabre or Annex
