Laser Cutter

The laser cutter is a RED level tool. You are required to be trained in person in the safe usage of the laser cutter.

Basic usage

  1. Load DXF into LaserCut
  2. Associate colors in DXF/LaserCut to settings and cut types
  3. download the drawing to the laser cutter
  4. square up material
  5. turn on all the things and the blowers
  6. press go
  7. watch the fireworks

Cleaning

Only officers and those trained to do such should clean the optics.

Materials

Material Safe? Notes
Polycarb NO Melts, carcinogenic, 100% nasty.
Plywood YES untreated ONLY!
Polyacrylate YES Lots of ventilation is needed. Give 20-30 seconds after cut completion to open hood.
Aluminum YES Engrave only: Low power engraving is possible.
