+ | * August! We are now in August! The month of Mini Maker Faire and the return to school. Holy Moly. Mini Maker Faire is just around the corner (Aug 27th and 28th). Each year Quelab has a tent for this event in order to showcase our amazing abilities. This year will be no different. We will have a representation of each section there modeling all the cool possibilities. Can you help? Of COURSE! We'd love to have help, big or small, loading in or out or both. Could you sign up to show off your latest cool thing? YES. Though, in fairness, it's hard to beat the light sabers Eric Lee makes. Just sayin'
+ | * Who do you talk to for such a thing? Personally, I'd go straight to JT. He's got the spreadsheet thing going and can hook you up.
+ | * Less fun this month is the loss of Ben Kuttesch, our 3D printing Officer. As many of you know, work often dictates where we live and Ca called Ben's name. He was an amazing Officer and will be sorely missed.
+ | * Our amazing Accounting Officer, Geoff, has tendered his resignation at the end of this year also. By the time he finishes our taxes for us this year it will have been five years of hard accounting that he has given us. We really do owe him our gratitude. And perhaps a beer or two. The Board is open to thoughts about his replacement. Likely as not, we will need to hire someone, which brings me to memberships.
+ | * Sustaining Memberships are the backbone of Quelab. We need 90 and right now we are not there. Everyone knows someone who would love to participate in Quelab. Bring them! Encourage them to take a class and become a member. We have many very cool things going on here. Don't be selfish! Share the fun with your peeps! If you need an indirect way to introduce them to Quelab bring them to the Maker Faire. They can see all the nerdy fun there and Quelab will have a membership/

+ | * We offered a Basic Welding class for August and did not have any sign ups. Lesson learned about summer classes. I posted a September class and we already have 2 sign ups. I will also post an October basic class and probably offer an intermediate class in November. Will Smith decided to make the classes a maximum of 8 (up from 6). With the upcoming Mini Maker Faire we anticipate having full classes I have posted both a Basic Woodworking and Introduction to Woodworking for Teens class for September and October. We have had 3 or 4 requests for classes recently and again with advertisement at the Mini Maker Faire I anticipate full enrollment. Gonner and I will be leading these classes with assistance from JT, bandit and Ed Heron. If you have a fair knowledge of woodworking and power tools and would like to be involved in a very enjoyable project please let me know. You never really know how much you know and don’t know until you teach someone. But it is great fun. I will be posting a September class in Laser Cutting shortly. Jonathan Romero will be teaching it. It will basically be about using the free program Inkscape to design and develop projects that can be readily be converted to the Laser cutter software and cut or engraved using our equipment. Because of the Quelab restriction on the Laser Cutter as member only use this class will require Quelab membership. Jt brought up a good point yesterday in that we had one person sign up for the Welding Class as a member even though they are not an active member. This just makes it important that we double check on membership at the start of a class and in the case of the woodworking classes at the start of the second month. This raises the question of how soon after the start of the month does membership dues have to be paid? Does anyone have any suggestions?

+ | * These are the facilities related projects for the above time period: An original request for a second 220 volt outlet in the MASTS welding area expanded somewhat. Drew, Eric, Gonner and I worked on the installation a new electrical circuit of two 50 amp, 220 volt receptacles for the welding machines, kilns, and other large power consuming equipment, one inside, adjacent to the north rollup door, and the other, outside in the fenced area (formerly a storage area) on the north side of the building. Two new 20 amp, 120 volt circuits were also installed in the fenced area, These outlets are to power the abrasive blaster, now located in the fenced area, and other equipment as required. On Friday, Darren, Drew and I replaced the lock cylinder on the panic bar portion of the door. Adric suggested that the deadbolt'

The maker space at Meow Wolf is pretty inspiring, very open and inviting. Orientations I emailed all the people on the wiki that haven’t received orientation. I’ve gotten several replies, so we’ll have an orientation on August 14 at 6:30. The wiki list is updated.
